RFIs: Advanced PDF Markups

Available Now

The markup tools already available for your Plans & Specs as well as Submittal attachments are now available for attachments on RFIs. This update introduces the advanced markup capabilities like lines and shapes, notes, highlights, and inserting pages. It also includes a custom stamp option similar to Submittals.

Who is impacted by this update?

Anyone who manages and issues RFIs on a Project. Typically Project Managers, Project Coordinators, Assistants, and Superintendents. These markup tools can also be used by the recipient(s) of your RFI, often Customers and Third-Parties.

Why would you use it?

Use the advanced markup tools to highlight important areas of reference from your RFI, to add pages if needed, include a stamp of approval, and more.

How to use this feature

From an active Project, go to the Dialog tab and create or Edit an RFI in Draft status, then go to the Attachments step to click on or upload a PDF. When the attachment is opened you will see the option to Stamp/Markup directly on the file.

Custom Session Duration

Available Monday, April 24th

For our clients who utilize user sessions in RedTeam Flex, you now have the ability to customize the session duration. The default is still 45 minutes of inactivity for a session to expire, but now you can choose to increase or decrease based on your company’s preference.

Who is impacted by this update?

All session-based users are affected by the session duration once it is set by an Admin in your company. Admins can choose a shorter session duration or longer depending on your company’s needs.

Why would you use it?

If your company finds that Admins are often having to end user sessions to free up a session for another user, you may benefit from shortening the session expiration so that inactive sessions expire more quickly, freeing up a session for someone else to log in. On the other hand, you may find that your sessions end too quickly for your users, and that they are often having to log back into RedTeam when they step away from their desks or switch to other tasks. In that case you would benefit from increasing the duration. If none of these apply to you, feel free to leave the session duration at the default 45 minutes.

How to use this feature

An admin or a user with permissions to access the Configuration menu will need to make this change. Go to the Configuration menu > My Company > User Session Timeout. Here you can select your custom session duration and save your changes.

Additional information

For our users on subscriptions that do not use session-based logins, your login will last 30 days. This means when you go to the RedTeam login page you’ll automatically stay logged in for 30 days and only after that time will you need to log in again. This saves time not requiring a login every day. Additionally, if you accidentally close your window or tab where RedTeam Flex is open, you can reopen Flex and will remain logged in, no need to login again.

RedTeam Flex and Fieldlens Integration: Phase 2

Available end of April

Coming soon: the next phase of the Flex and Fieldlens integration. This phase includes updates to the RFI integration, allowing bi-directional editing of the RFI and status. Additionally, Safety posts in Fieldlens will be viewable in RedTeam Flex, similar to Punch List posts from Fieldlens are now.

Who is impacted by this update?

All users currently using the Flex and Fieldlens integration, especially those using RFIs, will be affected. Typically Project Managers, Superintendents, and field personnel.

Why would you use it?

If you are already integrated and creating RFIs in one or both products, those RFIs will be updated in both when changes are made to the RFI content or status. For instance an RFI closed in Fieldlens will be automatically closed on the Flex side, and vice versa.

How to use this feature

Once this update is released, RFIs of the type you have synced between Flex and Fieldlens (this preference is found in the Fieldlens App card in the Apps menu of Flex) will automatically update when changes are made on either side. To access the Fieldlens Safety items, go to the Progress tab > Manage icon > Manage Fieldlens Safety List.

Additional information

If you are a current Flex user who is not yet using the integration with Fieldlens and you are interested in doing so, click here to learn more about Fieldlens, or watch our webinar for more details on connecting.

Drawing Hyperlinks

Available in May

Coming soon: automatic and manual hyperlinking for Plans & Specs. This new feature is intended to save you and everyone who accesses your drawings time in navigating through drawing sets. By applying hyperlinks anywhere on a page that another sheet from the set is referenced, you can quickly navigate to that other page.

Who is impacted by this update?

Anyone who uploads and views Plans & Specs, typically Estimators, Project Managers, Project Coordinators, and Superintendents.

Why would you use it?

When reviewing the drawings for a Project, you probably spend time navigating to other sheets referenced on a specific page. This update makes that process easier by applying a clickable hyperlink to quickly take you to that page for more information.

How to use this feature

When uploading Plans & Specs, hyperlinks will be generated automatically on the PDF files. After the automatic hyperlinks have been processed, you can open any file, and go to the Redline Markups to open the Drawing Links manager and adjust or add hyperlinks as needed.

Additional information

This feature is in the final stages of development and testing and will be released for all RedTeam Flex users in May. Check back to the Releases page for updates.
