Pioneer Contracting: Managing Everything in One Software

It’s no secret that there are many construction management software currently available. They all offer different tools and features, pricing, licenses, and more. With so many to choose from, how do you know you’re investing in the right software that fits your company? We spoke with a construction company that had the same concerns. They chose RedTeam over Procore, Buildertrend, CoConstruct, and UDA.

The interview

We spoke with David Hillmer, CEO of Pioneer Contracting, a property acquisition and development firm, to learn more about the implementation process of our construction software and how RedTeam helps his company.

We came to RedTeam having used several other software that just didn’t have the breadth that we needed.

The challenge

Pioneer Contracting likes to use software that offers extensive and flexible features for their company that allows them to work efficiently and productively. The company needed construction software that can offer a wide range of tools and features accommodating different construction professionals to handle the large projects they work on.

“I used Buildertrend extensively and it’s a great platform but there’s no doubt it’s really focused on single-family custom homes or maybe even track homes,” said Hillmer. “Procore seemed quite bloated for our use case. Ultimately we needed something that could offer flexibility and collaboration.”

The solution

Pioneer Contracting considered several construction management software until finally landing on RedTeam. The company was looking for end-to-end construction project management that offered controls like RFQs invoicing, budgets, field reporting, c/o’s submittals, and integration with QuickBook Online.

“Before RedTeam we were using a lot of different software where we had to go through different places for information,” said Hillmer. “Daily logs were in one software while payments and invoices were in another. RedTeam has allowed my entire team to pull together and operate in one software which is pretty nice.”

Pioneer Contracting experienced a seamless implementation and onboarding process that helped answer all of the company’s questions on working with the software.

“The team was amazing. I felt incredibly well-supported and we probably overused our allotment of phone calls and time. You guys were super flexible and great at accommodating our needs. High marks,” said Hillmer.

Hillmer also found the user interface easy to use especially for his company which he believes plays a big role in their success.

“The interface is relatively simple, you can always find what you need. Anyone on my team is able to pick it up, figure it out in under a week and start using it. That’s pretty big,” said Hillmer.
